Stewarding Belief

“And he believed the Lord and he counted it to him as righteousness.” Genesis 15:6

In Genesis, God tells Abram that he will be the father of many nations. Abram doesn’t understand how this could be true, but he believed God. “Believed” in the original text can be translated as uphold, nourish, support, etc. He upheld, nourished, and supported what God promised to him. He didn’t just hear it, but he stewarded God’s promise to him and then God credited that kind of faith to him as righteousness. As God speaks to you in this season, uphold, nourish, and support what He says. Steward His words and promises. Keep them in front of you and watch how God is delighted.

What to Pray:
God, teach us how to steward your words. Call us to remembrance when we forget what you’ve spoken. As we uphold, nourish, and support the things you speak to us, we pray that you would be delighted and that it would be counted to us as righteousness. Let our faith in what you say be pleasing to you. We believe what you’ve said. We remember what you’ve spoken. Teach us how to uphold and nourish your words. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The Prayer of Jabez:
Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, “Oh [if] that you would bless me [indeed] and enlarge [Expand] my territory, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm [evil] so that it might not bring me pain!” And God granted what he asked. 1 Chronicles 4:10 KJV, NIV, MSG
