Small Beginnings
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 ESV
God could have come to earth in a high and lofty manner, through kings and queens. He could have chosen a more “magnificent” way to enter the world, but He came low in humility, to a teenage girl, to live a life unnoticed and unacknowledged until the time was right. Our King and Savior came in a package that no one expected Him to come in. Have faith that what’s in front of you now, God may be using as a doorway to your breakthrough. God may be answering your requests with a package that you didn’t expect. Your answer might be in something that looks weak or small, but have faith that He will deliver something powerful from it. He loves to come in unexpected packages. Partnering your faith with small beginnings can birth big victories for the Kingdom of God.
What to Pray:
God, we know that you work in ways that we often don’t understand. Give us eyes to see things how you see them and help us to not despise the small beginnings. Thank you that you rejoice to see the work begin and that our faith in you brings you delight. We believe, that just like you made yourself small for your entrance into the world, the small beginnings in our lives can be the start of something miraculous. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
The Prayer of Jabez:
Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, “Oh [if] that you would bless me [indeed] and enlarge [Expand] my territory, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm [evil] so that it might not bring me pain!” And God granted what he asked. 1 Chronicles 4:10 KJV, NIV, MSG
